The MetaCalligraphyfilter is very similar to the Calligraphy filter that comes with Illustrator, with the exception that the MetaCalligraphy filter will vary the calligraphic stroke randomly as you move along the path.
The Angle slider lets you control the slant of the calligraphic pen. When you use this slider, feedback will appear in the preview image to assist you in choosing the angle.
The Distance slider lets you determine the basic "width" of the calligraphic pen. The units used in the slider are the same ones you've chosen for your document's ruler.
The Amount slider lets you choose how much randomness (sloppiness) to introduce along the path. At 0%, the effect is identical to Illustrator's built-in effect; at 100%, the path will vary wildly. Use a value between 25% to 50% for best results.
